How about a saltine cracker with a slice of cheddar, a pickle slice, and a little shot of mustard. mmmmmmmm. Also when I was a kid I used to eat the bakers chocolate that my mom kept. A lot of times that was the only chocolate in the house. To this day I like bitter chocolate.

I am a former MS and I in the middle of a a several year fade and am still working on my wife. She is totally snowed by the organizaiton. I will say up front that I do still belive the bible, I know many on this board no longer do, however I do. Anyway, I have no interest in debating that subject, just so you know where I am.
I have tried everything I can think of with my wife and nothing seems to get through. I tried the NGO stuff, 607, false prophecy, changing teachings, bad elders, pretty much everything I could try. I almost lost her over it and backed off because she is a wonderful person with a really good heart, and despite the org I still love her and I would be miserable without her.
All that being said, I thing this Candice Conti stuff may actually have gotten through to her a little. It is like one small movement in the right direction but still, at least it is in the right direction. I read the book "When Prophecy Fails" about the UFO cult. It is the book that defines cognitive dissonance. In that book the author found that it takes 3 major things before you can break through. Hopefully this was at least one. All I can say is I hope they continue to shoot themselves in the foot. The way they responded on the website saying the abuse was "alledged" and "may have happened" was good . . . for me. Keep it up Brother JR. Brown! You da man!
Anyway, Miss Conti, if by any chance you are reading this I would first of all like to wish you the best, and I would like to thank you for standing up to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society about the subject of pedophilia and child abuse. You had an opportunity to take a settlement but you did the right thing by holding out. Even though my family has fortunately not had to deal with pedophiles you are helping us as well. It is your brave stance that has brought this to the mainstream media. Thank you for that.
Note: I spelled out Watchtower Bible and Tract Society and pedophilia as well as Candice Contie's name to help with SEO

Does anyone know any moonies? Hoping to help one out!
by Diest ini just found out today that a friend of a friend is a born-in moonie.
i really want to give him combating cult mind control.
i am just curious if it is a bad idea because it was written by a moonie apostate, or if it works well.

It will not be easy to get them out. If you really care about this person get Steve Hassan's book entitled "Combating Cult Mind Control". It is available on Amazon.com. Read it.
Steve is a former Moonie and there are some very good points in that book that can be used with Moonies. One of the things that "turned" him was simply a stranger being nice. When people attack Moonies they just see it as proof that they are right.
Anyway, much too detailed to cover in a forum post, get the book and you will learn a lot about "Moonies" & Witnesses

Who or what are you most angry at, when it comes to your situation in relation to JW Org?
by BreathoftheIndianNose ini've been receiving very bitter messages from jws i know, mostly my mother, but also others that know how to contact me electronically.
sometimes i find myself mad at her, though not displaying it.
but i know it's really not her or my fathers fault.

Myself and those in the org who know it is wrong but don't have the guts to stand up. Also mad because I know realize that none of my friends are unconditional friends. Even my wife said she would consider leaving if I get DF'd. SUCKS!

Biblical precedence for opposing viewpoints within the Congregation
by Momma-Tossed-Me inoften the wtbts uses the gathering of older men in jerusalem as support for the organizational structure used today.
this essay will examine the validity of that claim by way of logic and reason.. .
logically an argument could be formulated that this meeting was not a regularly scheduled or organized group that held weekly or monthly meetings to discuss things related to the early christian congregation but that is a thesis to be explored on another day.. .

My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

I chose Indian Larry as a screen name because I like the attitude he had about questioning everything. I also like his signature "question mark" logo. Here are some excerpts from the Wikipedia page on Indian Larry:
Having experienced and overcome many extreme tests in life, Indian Larry adopted the question mark as his personal symbol. Larry "had a lot going on in his head", and was by nature analytical, and a deep thinker.
A well-known anecdote about Indian Larry is that as a kid he attempted to build a bomb in his parent's basement in order to blow up the Catholic school;Instead, an explosion occurred at the DeSmedt home, and Larry lost the small finger on his left hand.

by Indian Larry ineverybody may already know this but i just happened to discover that crisis of conscience and in search of christian freedom are now available as audio books.
they are not legal copies as commentary press did not make a audio version, however someone took the time to read every page of both books into a good mike.

They are NOT legal copies as Commentary Press did not make a audio version, however someone took the time to read every page of both books into a good mike. The sound quality is good and they are organized well for a iPhone or iPod. I have both books already (ordered off of Amazon - Free Minds I think). I would have been more than glad to pay for the audio version but I could not find one for sale.
So that being said you have to decide if it will cause a crisis for your conscience to download it for free from Piratebay dot SE.
You will need a bit torrent program. It will download as .mp3 files. They will import into iTunes perfectly. The speaker has a pleasant voice and it is really nice to be able to listen while driving.
I would recommend making a donation to Commentary Press or even better order extra copies to give away (or leave in your Dr.s Office), that way Ray''s wife can still earn for his valueable insitghts. To me these two books are BOTH fantastic, although I like In Search of Christian Freedom the best.
Please don't flame me for recommending Pirate Bay. If there is any other place to get them please let me know.
